​​​​Dr. Evelyn Stephens is a double board-certified, licensed psychiatrist with a private clinical practice.  She is board-certified in both adult and child/adolescent psychiatry. Dr Stephens is trained to treat a variety of psychiatric disorders and issues, both through medication management and psychotherapy.  Dr. Stephens utilizes aspects of supportive, dynamic, cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapies to treat patients, as well as Internal Family Systems when indicated.  She treats individuals suffering with depression,  anxiety, panic disorder, bipolar disorder, attentional disorders, substance abuse disorders, eating disorders and personality disorders, including Borderline Personality disorder.  


Dr. Stephens considers each patient carefully and provides a careful psychiatric evaluation upon meeting to further develop an individual treatment plan with specific treatment goals and objectives.  She has a very supportive and empathetic approach which many patients have said made the difference in their ability to share openly and honestly without fear of judgment.


Dr. Stephens graduated from the University of Richmond, magna cum laude with departmental honors in biology and a Bachelor of Science degree and then earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from New York Medical College.  She completed her adult psychiatry residency at St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital, one of the leading hospitals in New York City for the treatment of addiction.  She went on to serve as chief resident during her child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Mt. Sinai West Hospital, a leading hospital in the treatment of childhood and adolescent disruptive mood disorders.
